Shinedown Partners with Musicians On Call and HCA Florida Healthcare to Launch Volunteer Music Program at UCF Lake Nona Hospital |
Live bedside performances aim to bring comfort and joy to patients in Orlando |
Shinedown has teamed up with Musicians On Call and HCA Florida Healthcare to introduce a volunteer music program at UCF Lake Nona Hospital.
This initiative brings live, personal performances directly to patients' bedsides, offering comfort and connection during their hospital stay.
To celebrate the program's launch, Brent Smith and Zach Myers of Shinedown performed at the hospital, engaging with patients and staff.
They also presented a commemorative Gibson guitar to honor the new partnership.
With over 8.3 billion global streams and 24 number-one rock hits, Shinedown's involvement adds significant star power to this meaningful endeavor.
Wendy Brandon, CEO of UCF Lake Nona Hospital, expressed enthusiasm for the program, highlighting music's role in the healing process and its potential to enrich the patient experience.
Pete Griffin, President and CEO of Musicians On Call, emphasized the physical, emotional, and mental benefits of music in healthcare settings.
He expressed gratitude to HCA Florida Healthcare, UCF Lake Nona Hospital, and HCA Florida Osceola Hospital for supporting this initiative.
During the event, Brent Smith announced that Shinedown raised $300,000 for Musicians On Call through their recent tour, underscoring their commitment to the organization's mission.
This collaboration is part of a broader effort to expand Musicians On Call's programs nationwide, made possible by a $1 million gift from HCA Healthcare.
The funding supports the development of an online platform to enhance program delivery and reach more patients and healthcare workers.
Musicians On Call is seeking local musicians and music enthusiasts to volunteer as Volunteer Musicians and Volunteer Guides.
These volunteers will perform uplifting songs and facilitate the bedside music experience for patients.
Interested individuals can learn more about volunteering opportunities on the organization's website.
For over 25 years, Musicians On Call has delivered live music to patients, families, and caregivers in healthcare environments across all 50 states, reaching more than 1.2 million people.
The launch of this program at UCF Lake Nona Hospital marks a significant step in bringing the healing power of music to the Greater Orlando community. |
