Reflecting on 2025: Pivotal Moments in Lake Nona's Growth

A Year of Transformative Developments and Community Milestones

As 2025 draws to a close, Lake Nona stands at the forefront of innovation and community development.

This year has been marked by significant events and milestones that have shaped our vibrant neighborhood.

Let's revisit some of the key moments that defined Lake Nona in 2025.

Siemens Energy's Strategic Move

In August, Siemens Energy announced the relocation of its Orlando-based offices to Lake Nona Town Center.

This move introduces 3,000 employees to a cutting-edge 242,000-square-foot facility.

Integrating Siemens into Lake Nona's diverse technological landscape—encompassing biotech, AI, healthcare, and telecommunications—fortifies our community's infrastructure and underscores our commitment to innovation.

Lake Nona West: A Retail Renaissance

The unveiling of Lake Nona West has redefined the local shopping experience.

This 54-acre lifestyle center boasts over 405,000 square feet of retail space, featuring prominent tenants such as Target, Barnes & Noble, Nordstrom Rack, Homesense, and Total Wine & More.

The addition of Cañonita, a renowned Mexican restaurant making its Florida debut, enriches our culinary scene.

Designed with pedestrian-friendly pathways, vibrant art installations, and ample parking, Lake Nona West enhances the neighborhood's appeal and accessibility.

Inaugural Lake Nona Arts Festival

February marked the debut of the Lake Nona Arts Festival, a celebration of creativity and culture.

Over 100 artists from across the nation showcased their work, competing for $30,000 in awards.

Hosted at the Lake Nona Wave Hotel, the festival highlighted our community's dedication to the arts and provided a platform for both emerging and established artists.

Plans are already underway for an even more impressive lineup in 2026.

Honoring Heroes: 9/11 Stair Climb

Lake Nona's annual 9/11 Stair Climb continued its tradition of honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Participants ascended 110 flights at the Lake Nona DNA Garage, symbolizing the heroic efforts of first responders.

This year introduced an added challenge: a burpee for each victim, deepening the event's emotional resonance and fostering a profound sense of remembrance.

Veterans Day Parade: A New Tradition

For the first time, the City of Orlando's annual Veterans Day Parade was held in Lake Nona.

The 26th annual event, themed "Service to Our Nation," honored military members past and present.

The parade's relocation highlighted the significance of Lake Nona's VA hospital and our growing veteran community.

With 84 groups participating, including veteran organizations and JROTC/ROTC units, the parade became one of the largest in Orlando's history.

As we reflect on these milestones, it's evident that 2025 has been a transformative year for Lake Nona.

These developments not only enhance our community's infrastructure and cultural landscape but also lay the groundwork for a promising future.

Lake Nona continues to be a beacon of innovation, inclusivity, and growth.
